Haut Bailly 2016 was released today at €84 per bottle ex-negociant, up 27% on the 2015 release (€66). It is being offered by the international trade at £996 per 12×75, an increase of 38.3% on the 2015 release of £720 per case.
Haut Bailly 2016 received strong reviews from critics. Antonio Galloni scored the wine 94-97+ points and said the “2016 is a great Haut Bailly in the making”. Neal Martin even suggested that it is “perhaps the best [Haut Bailly] that I have tasted in almost 20 years of tasting at this estate” and awarded 96-98 points.
Prices for Haut Bailly are 85.1% correlated to Wine Advocate score. Based on today’s release of £996 per 12×75, Liv-ex’s ‘fair value’ methodology places Haut Bailly 2016 on the trend line.
Buyers confident in the quality of the 2016 might find value in this year’s release. However, with several years in bottle, the 2008 and 2012 also look attractive.
