Eglise Clinet 2016 has been released at €225 per bottle ex-negociant, up 25% on 2015 (€180). It is being offered by the international trade at £2,740 per case, a 44.2% increase in sterling terms on the 2015 release price of £1,900 per 12×75.
This year’s Eglise Clinet has received high scores from critics. Neal Martin, who awarded a score of 97-99 points, commented that it is “undoubtedly one of the stars of the vintage.” Antonio Galloni, who bestowed a similar score of 96-99 points, praised the wine as “mind blowing in its depth”.
Prices for Eglise Clinet are correlated to critic scores (Wine Advocate). Today’s opening price places Eglise Clinet 2016 in-between the great 2009 and 2010 vintages, at a price just below the amount suggested by Liv-ex’s ‘fair value’ methodology, making this a nicely balanced release.
Buyers looking for value might be interested in the 2006, which although lower scoring, carries several years in bottle and is available at a 56.2% discount to today’s offering.
