Ducru Beaucaillou 2016 has been released at €139.20 per bottle ex-negociant, up 16% on the 2015 release (€120). It is being offered by the international trade at £1,704 per 12×75, an increase of 34% on the 2015 release in sterling terms.
The volume of stock being offered has been reduced by 28% on last year.
At this price, it is pitched around the same level as the current market prices of the 2005 and 2010. Both have several years in bottle and proven scores. As the chart below shows, this positions the 2016 above the ‘fair value’ trend line, suggesting that it might be challenging for collectors.
The 96-point 2014 stands out as a vintage offering relative value. It is available at a 40% discount to today’s release.
