Carmes Haut Brion 2016 has been released at €56.40 per bottle ex-negociant, up 27% on 2015 (€44.40). It is being offered by the international trade at £670 per 12×75. This is 39.6% higher than the offer price of the 2015 (£480) in sterling terms.
Based on Wine Advocate score, the 2016 vintage is the highest scoring Carmes Haut Brion of the last eleven years. Neal Martin described the wine as “a new benchmark for this estate with big ambitions” and awarded 95-97 points. Antonio Galloni was also full of praise and said the 2016 “is one of the most distinctive wines of the vintage”.
The quality of this year’s release has a price tag to match. buyers will have to be confident in its quality for the release to be a success.
Last week First Growth, Haut Brion 2016 was released at €420 per bottle ex-negociant.
