Canon Gaffeliere 2016 has been released at €66 per bottle ex-negociant, a 17% increase on the 2015 price of €56.40. It is being offered by UK merchants for £775 per 12×75, up 31.3% in sterling terms on the 2015 release of £590 per case.
Critical reception for Canon Gaffeliere 2016 has been positive. Antonio Galloni awarded the wine 93-96 points, praising it as a “huge, voluptuous wine with no hard edges and exceptional balance”. Neal Martin said that the wine was “as good as the 2015 last year, it might even surpass it” and awarded 93-95 points.
Prices for Canon Gaffeliere are just 59.5% correlated to Wine Advocate score. Today’s release price of £775 per 12×75, places Canon Gaffeliere 2016 slightly above the price suggested by Liv-ex’s ‘fair value’ methodology.
Buyers looking for value might consider the equally scored 2015 vintage, which is available at a 23.8% discount to today’s release.
