Canon La Gaffeliere 2015 started today’s releases at €56.4 per bottle ex-negociant, up 36.6% on 2014 (€41.3). It is being offered by the trade for £590 per 12×75, up 47.5% on the 2014’s release at £400.
Critics found a lot to like in the latest offering from Canon La Gaffeliere: James Suckling (96-97) called it “full and powerful” while James Molesworth (94-97) praised its “good energy”. Neal Martin was slightly more restrained in his scoring, awarding it 93-95, but noted that the wine was “a fascinating 2015, more cerebral than previous vintages that I have tasted over the years.”
While the 2015 is of higher quality than the previous four vintages, its price is also significantly higher. Those seeking a less expensive vintage may find the 2012 compelling: scored 93 points, at £400 per 12×75 it is 32% below the price of the 2015.
