Malescot St Exupery 2015 has been released at €34.8 per bottle ex-negociant, up 18% on the release price of its 2014 (€29.5). It is being offered by merchants at £370 per 12×75. Of recent vintages, only 2005, 2009 and 2010 cost more.
The 2015 vintage from the Margaux appellation has been widely praised by critics, and Malescot St Exupery is no exception. Neal Martin (93-95) noted its “intriguing and complex bouquet with oyster shells and seaweed infusing the intense black fruit” and called it “a superb Margaux, surfeit with breeding and sophistication”.
For buyers seeking the best of Malescot, this might therefore appear interesting.
Of the back vintages, buyers might also find value in the 2012. It has a score of 93 from Robert Parker and a market price of £280 per 12×75, 24.3% below the 2015.
