Branaire Ducru bucks downward trend

By November 3, 2011Fine Wine Market

Though high-end Bordeaux yielded to downward pressure last month, some of their lower-priced peers gained value. Branaire Ducru was among the wines that ended the month on a high note. Physical vintages of the Fourth Growth from 2000 onwards have outperformed the market this year and are up an average of 15 per cent. And at between £300 and £600 per case—a fraction of the price of the First Growths—it’s easy to see why the brand is garnering attention.

The 2006 and 2004 vintages have gained the most ground since January, having risen 24 and 21 per cent respectively. Despite their recent run, both wines are available at around £350 per case. Trading members of Liv-ex can view live markets here.
