Lafite’s rise continues unabated

By November 15, 2010Bordeaux, Fine Wine Market, Regions

Over the past few days, heavy trading in Lafite has shown no sign of slowing down. As a result, the Liv-ex Claret Chip Index – which is constructed of top-scoring physical vintages of the Premier Crus – closed on Friday at 397.04, up 1.7% week-on-week. The index is up 46.3% year-to-date.

Whilst several vintages of Lafite increased in value by more than five percent over the course of the week, Lafite 2006 was the star performer. The 97-point vintage (RP) moved up in price by 10% and continues to see intense demand on the exchange. The wine traded on Liv-ex at a new high of £8,395 per 12x75cl case this afternoon.
