Premier Cru prices point north

By October 25, 2010Fine Wine Market

The Liv-ex Claret Chip Index posted sizeable gains last week, as the First Growths continue to see vigorous trade. The index rose from 377.07 on the 15th of October to 381.26 on Friday – a change of 1.11% week-on-week. The index is up 1.8% month-to-date and 42.45% year-on-year.

Lafite 2000 was a major force behind last week's move, despite having recently lost its perfect Parker score. The vintage (RP 98+) traded at a new high of £19,286 per 12x75cl case on Wednesday, up from £17,250 last month. Margaux 2000 (a double 100-pointer) has also seen strong demand and recently eclipsed £9,000 per case. With month-end edging closer (and with it the close of the other Liv-ex indices), will the Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 Index see similar gains?
