Seña 2019 has been released at €80 per bottle ex-négociant, equal to the 2018.
The wine is being offered by the international trade for £958 per 12×75, down 3.2% on the 2018 release price (£990).
This year, Seña is celebrating its 25th Anniversary with a special edition label. 100,000 bottles were produced.
Seña ranked in the third tier of the 2021 Liv-ex Classification.
Critical opinion
The Wine Advocate’s Luis Gutiérrez awarded today’s release 98-points. He observed that “this is incredibly elegant, subtle and harmonious even at this early stage”. He added that he felt the wine was “getting better and better by the vintage”.
James Suckling also gave the 2019 Seña 98-points. He called it “a wine with soul and length” and advised to “give it time”.
Where is the value?
The 2018 and 2016 offer good value for money across recent vintages. The 2018, currently available for £850 per case, boasts the same score as today’s release. Meanwhile, the 2016, with 97-points from the Wine Advocate, costs 14.8% less.
Other releases
Viñedo Chadwick 2019 was also released this morning at €225 per bottle ex-négociant and is being offered internationally for £2,832 per 12×75. It received 99-points from James Suckling, who said it “suggests greatness and longevity”.
The Chilean estate made waves in the wine world in Berlin in January 2004, when its 2000 vintage was ranked above the Super Tuscans and Bordeaux’s First Growths in a blind tasting.
