Clarence Haut Brion 2017

Clarence Haut Brion 2017 has been released today at the same price as last year (€102). It is being offered by UK merchants at around £1,200 per 12×75.

The volume of wine coming to market has been reduced by 15% on 2016.

Critics have consistently scored the wine between the high 80s and low 90s. Neil Martin, who awarded a score of 89-91 points praised the wine as having a “sustained and supple, almost pastille-like finish.”

Today’s opening price is ambitious, given that it is pitched above all other recent vintages currently available on the market except Bahans Haut Brion 2006. Last year’s release showed a similar ambition, but the fact it is now being discounted in the market would suggest that did not work.
